Rapper Young Scooter, Chased By Police On Birthday, Dies After Getting Injured
Young Scooter was reportedly trying to flee the police when he got injured and later succumbed in the hospital.

Atlanta rapper Young Scooter passed away at the age of 39 on Friday, the same day as his birthday. According to the Atlanta police, Young Scooter injured himself while trying to flee the police, later succumbing to his injuries in the hospital. The rapper, whose real name is Kenneth Edward Bailey, died at the Grady Marcus Trauma Center in Atlanta on Friday night, where he was rushed after sustaining the fatal injury.
With the autopsy still pending, authorities are yet to confirm the cause of his death. Leading a press conference later in the night, Atlanta Police Lt. Andrew Smith elaborated on the series of events that reportedly led to the artist’s untimely death. According to the officer, police arrived at the spot after receiving a distress call about firing in the area and set up a perimeter outside. Mentioning that a man instantly shut the door on their face, Smith revealed that two of them tried fleeing the house, with one jumping fences to escape.

Young Scooter, reportedly being the one to jump on the fences, was located by the officers on the other side, where he appeared to have suffered a major injury to his leg. He was immediately taken to the Grady Marcus Trauma Centre, where he passed away. During the press conference, Smith also denied many reports about Scooter being fatally shot by the Atlanta police officers. “Just to be very clear, the injury that was sustained was not via the officers on the scene. It was when the male was fleeing," he shared.
The shocking news has left many from the music fraternity mourning, while fans are paying their tributes to the late rapper.

Born as Kenneth Edward Bailey, Scooter was known for having a strong rap presence in Atlanta, even becoming one of the first artists to be signed with Future’s Freebandz label and later Waka Flocka Flame’s Brick Squad Monopoly. While Scooter moved to Atlanta at the age of 9, his musical career took off in 2012 with the song Colombia.
